GENA MASON RELEASES HER FIRST FULL-LENGTH RECORD, TESTAMENT

New York singer, writer, and multi-instrumentalist Gena Mason has finished recording and mixing Testament, her first-full-length album and second commercial release.

She's still in a mild state of shock. "I feel like I was just released from a P.O.W. camp," Mason says--only half joking. Gena made this record almost completely by herself, after many nightmarish, peripatetic years of enduring stalking, murder attempts, homelessness ... and lawsuits that she subsequently filed. Exploring Mason's obsessions with sex, death, and metaphysics, Testament traces Gena's journey to the heart of darkness and back again.

Six of the thirteen tracks are now streamning at myspace.com/genamason. The album will be available for sale in December.

Ever self-reliant, Gena wrote, arranged, produced, recorded, and mixed every single song on Testament (with the exception of "Smokestack Lightning," written by Howlin' Wolf). She also played nearly every note.

Already a singer, guitarist, bass player, and keyboardist, Gena taught herself drums in order to make this record (she's still working on that). She bought an electronic drum kit in August, and has been squeezing in practice time while also hitting the books.

Mason is currently a first-year student at Columbia University School of Law. She's excited about a recent meeting with Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, during O'Connor's private Q&A session with a select group of students. In addition to coursework and other activities, this semester Gena has also written a legal brief for the ACLU, on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act--the main focus of Gena's acclaimed political zine, The CIA Makes Science Fiction Unexciting, #3.

But wait, there's more ... Gena is also currently taping the second and third episodes for her new TV show, "Alien Nation," which launched this September on Manhattan Neighborhood Network TV.
